The Daphne Muse Letters Collection: Correspondence Documenting Black History & Culture across the Diaspora (1898-2019)

February 11, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Ygnacio Valley Library will host a lecture by luminary (and local), Daphne Muse. Among the thousands of letters in Daphne Muse’s collection are letters from Angela Davis, President Obama, Alice Walker, and the Bay Area’s own, Herb Caen. Her letters chronicle intersections of the Civil Rights, Black Power, Pan Africanist, Disability Rights, and Women’s Movements. On February 11th, Daphne Muse will speak about her collection, putting her letters in context and including the personal memories of someone who has been deeply involved with the fight to protect the rights and freedom of so many.
