Free Improv Class

February 20, 2019 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Free Improv Class for Ages 10-15.

“With improv, it’s a combination of listening and not trying to be funny…” Kristen Wiig

In this class, students will be introduced to basic concepts of comedy improv such as “yes and” (enthusiastically accepting what is offered), “group mind” (listening to each other and working as a team) and “space object work” (miming). Using warm-up exercises and improv “structures”, they will be encouraged to trust their instincts, think on their feet and support each other (it is said that a good improviser is one who makes his or her teammates look good). They will also laugh a lot!

Geri Engberg studied improv at Improv Boston in Cambridge, MA. She’s been teaching improv classes, workshops and camps for kids and teens around the East Bay for the past 7 years. She also teaches adult classes and offers improv for organizations. Her website is www.perfectlywhelmed.com.
