April 1, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
FreeGetting the Biggest Developmental Bang for Your Screen Time Buck
This free Zoom workshop is part of Contra Costa County Library’s “Healthy Media Habits for Kids” series
Parental concerns around technology & screen time are so vast. The only thing that ALL of the experts seem to agree on is that we are supposed to limit screen time & model healthy technology habits, particularly for very young children, as our habits as caregivers are found to strongly shape our children’s future habits. What critical developmental experiences are being displaced from children’s daily routines as a result of adding in technology? How can parents counteract some of the potential negative effects specifically for children with diagnosed or suspected developmental challenges in a way that feels doable?
Kathryn is a pediatric speech-language pathologist specializing in Early Intervention and Preschool. She has experience supporting children in a wide range of settings including public school, developmental centers and in-home. Her passions are creating individualized, outside-the-box supports and programming for children, as well as connecting families to developmental services and community resources.
