Live! – An Evening with Author Elise Hooper

March 8, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Walnut Creek Library Foundation’s Live! From the Library series will host author Elise Hooper as she kicks off her book tour for Angels of the Pacific, her new novel about a group of courageous U.S. and Filipino army nurses who band together to help the Allies win World War II. Hooper will provide a behind-the-book look at the incredible real-life women who inspired the story. Books will be available for sale and signing.

In Angels of the Pacific, due to be released on March 8, 2022, Hooper tells the story of the WWII nurses who served on the front lines in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation and who were captured and held as prisoners of war for four years. This is their story of courage, resilience, and triumph. Hooper will be joined in conversation with Anne Marie Taylor, Director of External Relations at John Muir Health Foundation.

A native New Englander, Hooper spent several years writing for television and online news outlets before moving to the West coast, earning a master’s degree, and teaching high school literature and history. Hooper is also the author of The Other AlcottLearning to See, and Fast Girls. She lives in Seattle with her husband and two daughters.

Program sponsors are East Bay Times, Friends of the Walnut Creek Library, and Minuteman Press Lafayette.
