One City, One Book: Book Discussion
October 3, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:45 pm
The 2018 One City, One Book celebration for “A Moveable Feast” by Ernest Hemingway culminates with a community-wide book discussion at Ygnacio Valley Library. All are welcome to attend and share thoughts on the book that recaptures Hemingway’s early writing life in Paris. REGISTER>
Published after Hemingway’s death, A Moveable Feast became an instant classic, delighting generations of readers with its unflinching descriptions of the writer’s life in 1920s Paris. It’s all here: the Left Bank cafes, the artists’ salons, and an unforgettable cast of characters including Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, F. Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda.
This is the 13th year that the Walnut Creek Library Foundation has produced One City, One Book, which provides opportunities for community members to come together through the experience of reading to discuss a work of literature that’s accessible to adults and teens and touches on themes of common interest. 2018 One City, One Book is sponsored by a generous grant from Wells Fargo and supported by the East Bay Times and Minuteman Press Lafayette. This year’s program is in partnership with the Friends of the Walnut Creek Library and the Contra Costa County Library.
