Paula Massadas Pereira: How I Learned English & Wrote a Book About It

Paula Massadas Pereira immigrated to the United States from Brazil when she was 19, took English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to be more comfortable communicating in her new country, and started working as a clerk in the local library. While working with other ESL and immigrant students, many of whom shared her immigrant experience and were learning English but on the verge of giving up, Paula wanted share her positive story of coming to the United States and learning through ESL classes. So Paula wrote, illustrated and self-published a book: How I Learned English: The Story of a Brave Mexican Girl. Written with love, Paula says her book is “the book I wish I’d read when I was an ESL student.”
