Songs with Rhythm … in the Title!

October 8 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

All music has rhythm – but what does this mean? Besides being a lucrative Scrabble word and music-associated term, ‘rhythm’ is not easily explained – but this presentation will give it a go! Following a ‘beginner’s guide to rhythm in music’, the presentation will continue with a live and chronological performance of various ‘songs with rhythm’, ranging from Gershwin’s ‘I Got Rhythm’ of 1930 to ‘Rhythm of Life’ – the foot-tapping number from the 1966 musical Sweet Charity, with music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields. Join us as presenters Dulais Rhys and Timothy Lynch take us on this musical journey!

Program sponsors are East Bay Times, Minuteman Press, and Friends of the Walnut Creek Library.
