What We Do
Programs We Fund
The Walnut Creek Library Foundation funds programs and activities at our two Walnut Creek Libraries, helping expand what’s possible beyond public funding. From engaging events to welcoming spaces, we invest in experiences that make our libraries feel like the community’s living room.
Live! From the Library
We produce the popular Live! From the Library series of free evening programs, bringing authors, scholars, community leaders, and performers to downtown Walnut Creek. These events create opportunities for shared learning, inspiration, and connection—open to everyone in our community.
Comfortable, Welcoming Spaces
We help transform our libraries into the community’s living room. The Foundation has supported critical projects to make both libraries more comfortable and inviting, including the purchase of new furniture to replace worn and broken seating. These improvements ensure our libraries remain places where people want to gather, linger, and learn.
Libraries Aren’t Quiet Places Anymore
(We help make the noise)
Here are some of the activities we’ve funded recently:
Author talks, speaker events, and community conversations
Children’s and family programming, including storytimes and school-break activities
Teen programs and academic support
Technology access and digital learning opportunities
Cultural programs, music, and live performances
Special partnerships and pop-up community events
Our Priorities
