LIVE! from the Library: 1969: One Giant Year

June 12 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Event Details
LIVE! from the Library will present 1969: ONE GIANT YEAR, an evening of memory, music, and discussion about the remarkable moments that forever defined the iconic era, on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, 7:00-8:30pm in the Oak View Room at the Walnut Creek Library, 1644 North Broadway.

The turbulent and transformative 1960’s had its chaotic and generation-defining finale in 1969, a year that brought us the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, Woodstock, the Stonewall Riots, the debut of Sesame Street, the Nixon Presidency, the Manson Murders, and the Beatles final public appearance, among many other significant events.

Meg Honey, an Adjunct Associate Professor at Saint Mary’s College of California, will facilitate a discussion about the social and political events of 1969, their important historical legacy, and their connection to our contemporary realities. Meg will be joined by Dennis Erokan, founder of the groundbreaking music magazine BAM in 1976, and founder and producer of the Bay Area Music Awards; and Dr. Glen Gendzel, Chair of the History Department at San Jose State University, and a California native.

Live! from the Library, produced by the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, features free public lectures, literary events, and cultural programs at the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley libraries. Program sponsors are the East Bay Times, Friends of the Walnut Creek Library, and Minuteman Press Lafayette.
