About Us

The Walnut Creek Library Foundation was formed in 1998 to support both the Walnut Creek Library and the Ygnacio Valley (Thurman G. Casey) Library.

Since its founding in 1998, the Walnut Creek Library Foundation has raised more than $6,000,000 for new and improved library facilities, collections, programs and services for both the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley libraries.

The Library Foundation exceeded its goal and raised $5.5 million in private donations for the construction of  the downtown Walnut Creek Library that opened in 2012, and in 2004 the Walnut Creek Library Foundation raised more than $180,000 for improvements at the Ygnacio Valley Library.

Mission

The Walnut Creek Library Foundation is a community-based 501(c) (3) organization that advocates for the Walnut Creek libraries and enhances their objective of meeting the cultural, informational, educational and recreational needs of greater Walnut Creek by raising private funds and sponsoring programs, materials and events.

We are not a grant-making foundation. Rather, we raise funds from a variety of sources to enhance the collections, programs, and facilities of our local libraries.
