Block Party in the Library

Join us for an hour of using your brains to build something new! We’ll use all sorts of materials to construct all sorts of things. From Lego to Keva Planks to toys that teach you how to code, we’ll help you create something to be proud of! No registration required, drop-ins welcome. On the 2nd Floor in the Oak View Room. Sidewalk Chalk

Lindsey Wildlife Museum: Owls

Fairytale  Engineering

ARF’s All Ears Reading

For children in grades 1-5. Reading with animals is a great way for children who are struggling with reading to improve their skills. Children read aloud for 20 minutes to a dog from ARF’s Pet Hug Pack in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Sessions begin at 3:30 & 4:00. Register online beginning two weeks in advance. Asheba’s Carribean Music for Kids

Bay Area favorite Asheba is a “musical storyteller” who specializes in calypso, original tunes, and remakes of classic Children’s songs, such as Itsy Bitsy Spider and You Are My Sunshine. Asheba will bring his Summer Jam Tour to the Walnut Creek Library, come join in on the fun!

East Bay Discovery Museum – Try It Truck

Solve engineering challenges at the Library during the Summer Reading Festival! Kids will get to dig into the engineering design process through challenges related to movement and transportation at 8 different STEAM stations. Kids will learn about diverse materials, build and try out prototypes and get first-hand experience with a variety of tools, including hand tools and high-tech tools like a laser cutter! Best for ages 5-10.  

Elephant & Piggie Show

You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn life’s most important lessons in this live action presentation of author Mo Willem’s most beloved characters, Gerald and Piggie. First 100 people will be admitted. Best for ages 3 and up. Funded by the Friends of Ygnacio Valley Library.
