ARF’S ALL Ears Reading
Mon., Aug. 13  • 4:00 p.m.@ Walnut Creek Library
For children in grades K-5. Reading with animals is a great way for children who are struggling with reading to improve their skills. Children can read aloud for 20 minutes to a dog from ARF’s Pet Hug Pack in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Space is limited, sign-up online or call 925-977-3340 to reserve a spot. Register>

Sidewalk Chalk

We provide the sidewalk and the chalk! You bring your creativity and together we’ll beautify the patio off the storybook room. 

The YVL After School Special

Our Wednesday school early release program features either a space for the after school kids to hang out in the meeting room, or to participate in other events ranging from movies to games.

Crosspulse Rhythm Duo

Crosspulse Rhythm Duo makes music out of anything and everything, bending and blending traditional and contemporary music and dance, allowing rhythm to forge connections in unexpected ways. Come explore the rhythmic possibilities in the world around us. Ojo de Dios – Craft with Rachel-Anne

Come make a beautiful Ojo de Dios (God’s eye). Bay Area multicultural craft artist Rachel-Anne Palacios will lead us in this meditative weaving craft. All materials will be provided. For ages 4+ with a parent or caregiver. Registration is required for this program. REGISTER>

Children read aloud for 20 minutes to a dog from ARF’s Pet Hug Pack in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment. Sessions begin at 3:30 & 4:00. Register online beginning two weeks in advance. Perry Yan Magic

One City, One Book: Float My Boat Family Activity
Wed., Sept 26 • 4:00 p.m. @ Walnut Creek Library
Come test your sea legs and build your own boat. Together we’ll see if it sinks or it floats! This program is for kids, ages three to twelve, and their caregivers. Meet at the Storybook Room patio. You might get wet, so dress accordingly. All supplies provided. Sailing toy boats at the Luxembourg Gardens is a pastime enjoyed by Parisians and visitors alike. This program is in celebration of Walnut Creek’s 2018 One City, One Book —A Moveable Feast, which is set in Paris.
