Virtual Author Talk with Karina Yan Glaser

Join us for our second annual Community Reads for Kids featuring The Vanderbeekers Make a Wish by Karina Yan Glaser. Our community reading program strives to get everyone in the County to read and discuss the same book. The program includes a virtual book discussion and a live Zoom event with the author.

In The Vanderbeekers Make a Wish, the Vanderbeeker children are busy planning Papa’s fortieth birthday when they find an old letter that pulls them into a family mystery. The Vanderbeekers series has received acclaim from numerous publications, including Booklist, The School Library Journal, and the New York Times. The Vanderbeekers of 41st Street was a California Young Readers Medal Finalist and a Junior Library Guild Selection.

Originally from California, Karina went to New York City for college and has lived there for over twenty years. She has had a varied career teaching and implementing literacy programs in family homeless shelters and recruiting healthcare professionals to volunteer in under-resourced areas around the world. She lives in Harlem with her husband, two daughters, two dogs, and three cats. Karina is also a contributing editor at Book Riot, where she writes the weekly The Kids Are All Right newsletter and children’s book recommendations.

Plenty of copies of the Vanderbeekers series are available for check out. Use the catalog to reserve the books, eBooks, or eAudiobooks.
