Finance 101: Special Needs Planning: Much More Than Government Benefits

September 29, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Join local Walnut Creek attorney, Kirsten Howe, as she discusses planning for and protecting special needs children through estate planning. A significant challenge for these parents is envisioning their children’s lives after they are gone and planning to replace themselves, in all their many roles, using the tools and resources available. Howe will explain government benefits and special needs trusts as well as limited conservatorships, life insurance, housing options, and other components of comprehensive special needs planning.

Kirsten Howe is the Founder and Managing Partner of Absolute Trust Counsel, a Walnut Creek law firm dedicated exclusively to providing comprehensive, client-centered estate planning services. Kirsten earned her law degree from UC Hastings, College of the Law and her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Kirsten is a member of the Trust and Estates Section of the California State Bar and the Estate Planning/Probate and Elder Law sections of the Contra Costa County Bar.

Finance 101, presented by the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, is a series of three free workshops facilitated by local financial and legal experts and designed to provide information on financial planning for the long-term. Experts will discuss tax planning; trust and estate planning; and special needs planning. A brief Q&A will follow each presentation.

Print sponsors are East Bay Times and Minuteman Press Lafayette.
