The Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley libraries have weekly free programs for preschoolers and elementary-age children. See below for the weekly program times

Summer Reading at the Libraries – Reading is Delicious!

June 8 – August 15

Join us this summer for special performances, teen activities and a reading challenge! Visit your local library to pick up a calendar of events and reading log.

LapSit
Especially for babies 6-24 months.
Ygnacio Valley Library – Tuesdays at 10:15 AM

Cuddle Club
Babies 0-12 months with a caregiver.
Lap bounces, tickle rhymes & other early literacy activities.
Walnut Creek Library – Tuesdays at 11:30 AM

Picture Book Time
For ages 3-5. Helps build literacy skills and Kindergarten readiness with longer books, flannel board stories, songs and rhymes.

Peek-A-Book-Time
For children ages 1 & 2 with their caregivers.
Music, finger plays and other book centered bedlam.

Toddler Time
For children ages 2 & 3 with their caregivers. Short picture books, finger plays & fun literacy building activities.

Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation’s All Ears Reading®

Walnut Creek Library     2nd Monday of each month at 4:00 and 4:30 PM
Ygnacio Valley Library   3rd Tuesday of each month at 4:00 and 4:30 PM

Pre-registration is required for this program and is limited to one 30 minute session each month. Reading with animals is a great way for children who are struggling with reading to improve their reading skills. Children will have the opportunity to read aloud to a dog from ARF’s therapy team, or just listen with the dog and interact. This program is for children in grades 1-5.

Pajama Math

Walnut Creek Library      3rd Wednesday of each month    6:30 – 7:30 PM

Wear your jammies and come for stories, games & activities full of mathematical merriment & number nonsense. For families with children ages 3 & up. Come join us in the Storybook Room!

BamWow! Club - Wednesdays at 2 pm Games, movies and activities for students in grades 4-8.
