A great public library is not possible through public funding alone.
The Walnut Creek Library Foundation was formed in 1998 to support both the Walnut Creek Library and the Ygnacio Valley (Thurman G. Casey) Library.
Since its founding in 1998, the Walnut Creek Library Foundation has raised more than $6,000,000 for new and improved library facilities, collections, programs and services for both the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley libraries.
The Library Foundation exceeded its goal and raised $5.5 million in private donations for the construction of the downtown Walnut Creek Library that opened in 2012, and in 2004 the Walnut Creek Library Foundation raised more than $180,000 for improvements at the Ygnacio Valley Library.
