Library Hours Preserved for 2014-16

Thank you for your messages!

The Walnut Creek City Council approved funding the additional hours at both the Walnut Creek Library and Ygnacio Valley Library. They will be open the full 56 hours for the next two years.

Your calls, emails and statements at the council meeting made a difference. Thank you!
The Library Foundation believes that free public libraries are an essential part of the fabric of our community and we will continue to work with the city and county to keep them open for everyone.

At present, each library is open 56 hours a week thanks to voters who, in 2002, approved Measure Q, which extended both libraries’ hours from the 35 hours funded by Contra Costa County, to 56 hours a week.

City Council Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, at  7:00 pm. at City Hall in Council Chambers. Follow the meetings on Walnut Creek TV or online. Learn how and view council agendas HERE.
