The Value of Advance Care Planning and End-of-Life Options in California

March 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Advance Care Planning is a process that enables individuals to make plans about their future health care; it is applicable to adults at all stages of life. The presentation first demystifies the terms and documents used in Advance Care Planning such as Living Will, Durable Power of Attorney, and Advance and Dementia Directives. The concept of value worksheets is discussed to help people consider what is most important for their lives and for their health care so they are better equipped to talk with family, friends, and medical providers about their wishes.

The overview of End of Life Options briefly describes choices such as discontinuing or declining medical treatments, palliative care, hospice care, voluntarily stopping eating and drinking (VSED) and California’s End of Life Option Act, also called Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD).

Registration requested but not required.

For special accommodations, please contact the library with 72 hours notice.
