The Walnut Creek Library Foundation works hand in hand with the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley Friends of the Library groups, independent groups that provide volunteer and fundraising support for their respective libraries. The Friends raise funds through membership and the sale of used books that are donated to the Friends groups. These Used Book Sales at the two libraries are community services that provide a source of funds for the libraries and facilitate efficient “recycling” of books within the community. All donated books are first made available for inclusion in the library collections. If not used in this way, the books are made available for sale by Friends groups.
